OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

Definitions

The following definitions apply to the terms and conditions set out below that govern the contract of services between you and us.

"the Builder", "we", "us", "our" means Whitaker Building Group

Agreement

By entering the Builders worksite and engaging in work you agree to adhere to this policy.

Policy

The objective of this policy is to facilitate expedient and satisfactory resolution of health and safety issues, which may arise on site by The Builder. The policy seeks to promote an environment of consultation and cooperation, where the common goal of a safe and healthy working environment can be achieved.

Resources

The Builder will allocate adequate resources in terms of personnel, time and financial outlay to secure the health and safety of each of its workers. Where necessary external consultants will be engaged to ensure that appropriate health and safety advice is available.

Senior Management

The owner/directors of the Builder's registered business accepts overall responsibility for the effective management of workplace health and safety at this site.

Duties of Managers and Supervisors

Managers and Supervisors are responsible for the following:

  • To ensure the objectives of this policy are integrated into all work practices
  • To consult with employees under their supervision and or their health and safety representative with regard to health and safety in the workplace
  • Promote OHS in the workplace
  • To investigate within 24 hours any accident, near miss or dangerous occurrence andreport back to senior management
  • To ensure that employees under their supervision are adequately trained to undertake their work in a safe manner
  • To work with employees and the Health and Safety Representative to identify, assess and control hazards in the workplace
  • To be a role model in health and safety

Duties of Employees

  • Employees are responsible not to put at risk their own health and safety or the health and safety of others
  • Not to wilfully or recklessly interfere with anything provided in the interests of health and safety
  • To comply with any health and safety policies and procedures implemented by the Builder in the interests of health and safety

Duties of the Health and Safety Committee

  • The Health and Safety Committee is responsible to encourage cooperation with agreed OHS measures and objectives
  • Immediately report to management any issue that may affect health and safety

Health and Safety Representatives

  • Health and Safety Representatives are responsible to report to management any OHS issue
  • To consult with management on OHS issues
  • To identify hazards in the workplace
  • To be a member of the OHS Committee
  • To promote OHS in the workplace
